Moving Abroad
How to report
-
You don’t need your new foreign address right away. You can just update it later if it changes.
-
If you can’t submit online, book an appointment at Borgerservice for help.
Special rules
-
Greenland: Moving there counts as a domestic move – report it to the local municipality.
-
Stays abroad under 6 months: You can stay registered in Denmark if you keep full control of your home.
-
Nordic countries: Usually, you wait until the new country has registered you.
Other important points
-
You can authorize someone else to report on your behalf.
-
Appeals are sent to your former municipality, which forwards them to the CPR office.
-
Moving abroad means you lose the right to vote in parliamentary elections. EU citizens may still vote in European and municipal elections under certain conditions.
